Wily Mo got the start in right field at Tampa Bay and picked up where he left off the last time Terry allowed him to swing his big bat! Recall that only earlier in the week, he went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and a home run.
In his first at bat against the mighty Scott Kazmir, Wily Mo got a hit. In his second at bat, Wily Mo got hit 8th double of the year but was left stranded on 3rd base unable to score while his teammates struck out. In this 3rd at bat Wily Mo advanced Coco Crisp to 2nd in a well-timed at bat. Coco couldn't score, but Wily Mo put him in scoring position! So, if you're the Red Sox manager, what do you do next? Why, of course, SluggerWily.com knows what they did but what would you do? Would you have a pinch hitter take his place? Why yes, if you're Terry. JD Drew was substituted as a pinch hitter in order to take Wily Mo's place in right field. But, he never got the chance. Why? He struck out, that's why! SluggerWily could smell the money burning all the way up the coast from Florida! So, Sox lose. Poor pinch hitting pisses away Pena's prowess at the plate (again)... |
