Two baseballs were completely destroyed today in Boston after getting too close to Wily Mo. The first came on a middle-in fastball in the 8th inning of the day game between the Sox and the Braves.
The slugger took the the first pitch he saw out onto the Mass Pike. Some fragments of a baseball were discovered a short time later but couldn't be positively identified. In game two of the double header Wily Mo took a foul ball off the bat of Jason Varitek square in the forehead while chilling in the dugout during the bottom half of the third. The ball then hit Devern Hansack in the mouth, who was sitting some 20 feet away, cutting the pitchers lip. The replay clearly showed the ball explode off of the slugger's crown as though it were hit by a Steroid pumped home run record chaser. Apparently Pena's head is made of matter that has yet to be discovered. |
