Daisuke Matsuzaka ground up and ate the Detroit Tigers in a 7-1 complete game victory.
Clipping bird wings and taming tigers is all in a day's work for the Red Sox $103M rookie. DiceK fed Sox defense a serving of 16 ground up tiger balls (tastes like chicken, I've been told!) and scattered 6 hits over the full 9 to move the Sox 8.5 ahead in the AL East.
The Tigers made one little whimper with a homer by Granderson in the 3rd but fell silent as Matsuzaka picked the meat off the bone one by one. DiceK fed off strong Sox defensive plays and 7 offensive runs to ease past the 2nd-best team in the American League. Fortunately for the Yankees, they had the night off which helped keep them from losing again to make it 9 games out of first place! Put that in your pasta sauce Georgie! As a footnote, our hero, Wily Mo, has not been traded. He is waiting in the wings to improve his May batting average of .462!! |
