Babe Ruth: a name synonomous with baseball itself. Moreover, a name also formerly associated with a curse on the Boston Red Sox. No! Say it ain't so! Yes, the Curse of the Bambino haunted the Old Town Team from 1918 until the glorious victory in 2004. But, what? A new curse? Has fate finally tipped its hand against the Evil Empire?!
Without a doubt, the sale of Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox tore the heart out of the Red Sox and shipped the balance of power to New York. Here, it stayed through 2004, when the Red Sox finally chipped away at the legacy of the Bambino for good.
Or so we are told! Until now, everyone in Boston and New York has believed this story to be true. Red Sox Nation assumes the curse of the Babe ended with the 2004 title. However, SluggerWily.com has significant evidence that the "Curse of the Bambino" was reversed long before 2004. In 2000, the New York Yankees won the World Series in what amounted to be a crowning moment in modern New York sport and a the consolidation of a baseball empire. 4 titles in 5 years. Amazing, huh? They were a free-spending team of All-Stars with luck on their side! What no one else noticed, though, was the disintegration had already begun. That year, Wily Mo Pena was obtained by the Yankees from the NY Mets. The Yankee star of victory burned ever so brightly owner George thought nothing of it when he traded Pena to the Cincinnati Reds. This proved to be a seminal moment! Since this trade in 2001, the Yankees have only LOST their chance at repeat greatness. No matter how much money they spend, they are doomed. Lose spend lose spend lose. Then, the tears start! It's a horrific cycle once you get caught up in it. A new era has begun: The Yankee Jinx. Wily Mo's trade away from the Yankees precipitated the downfall only to be punctuated further by his arrival in Boston, the home of their arch rivals and victims of a bitter curse of their own. Now that it's so blatantly obvious, Boston fans should rejoice. Red Sox Nation is in possession of the key ingredient in the demise of the much hated Yankees and cardholders of the future of our great game! Our Dominican hero, Slugger Wily, will take the world by storm in the magnificent colors of the Red Sox to march over the jinxed and soiled pinstripes of New York! Hurrah, The Yankees Jinx has been uncovered. Our independent (and absolutely unbiased) research predicts that this curse is destined to last for 86 years, starting in 2001. So, for you gambling types, you would be wise to start placing your bets for the Yankees to claim their next World Series title in 2087. Slugger Wily's rise to fame is clear link with the failures of the sad Yankees and their wasted fortunes.
