Is Wily Mo Pena being given a proper chance to hit? Our research shows that when our Hero starts the game, he's much more likely to hit better than if he plays 1 inning.
Our research for data from June 1st - June 24th shows that Wily Mo has started 6 games. (click here for data) Wily Mo is batting for .261 when he starts as opposed to .105 when he doesn't. The Red Sox seem to be only using Wily Mo for late inning relief work for JD Drew or Coco Crisp. Because of this, Pena isn't being given an even chance to see any pitches until late in a game against strong relief pitching. So, Pena finds himself striking out and never getting a chance to see any more pitches. The game is over. Given a chance to start a few more games, Wily Mo will prove his worth! Come on Terry!! |
